Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a safe and natural method for treating illnesses and injuries, or to increase one’s physical and emotional well being. Very fine needles are used to generate energy movement at specific points on the body during a treatment. It is not uncommon to feel a tingling or warm sensation throughout the body, leading to a deep state of relaxation and meditative state of mind. Acupuncture energizes our own bodies’ ability to heal itself.
Herbal and Nutritional Medicine
Herbal medicine consists of blending individual Chinese herbs into formulas. The formula usually consists of two to twelve different herbs. Herbal formulas have demonstrated excellent results for thousands of years and have fewer side effects than conventional pharmaceutical medications. Traditionally the prescribed herbs brewed into a tea by the patient. Herbal formulas now come in many forms: pills, capsules, granules and tinctures, much more convenient and less time consuming than the brewing of the tea.
Electrical Stimulation
Electrical stimulation may be added to your treatment to increase the efficacy of the acupuncture treatment. The electrical stimulation machine stimulates the needles and is relaxing and comfortable for the patient. This modality is frequently used to treat tendinitis, arthritis and other types of pain.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient modality used in Chinese Medicine. Glass cups are warmed to create suction and are placed on the body. Cupping draws blood to the area and increases circulation. Cupping is used to treat respiratory conditions and certain types of pain.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion has been used for thousands of years and involves burning an herb, called moxa to heat up specific acupuncture points on the patient’s body. There are many different forms of moxa. Moxa has unique healing properties when it’s burned; it warms up the area, increases circulation and alleviates pain.
Functional Medicine
Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, utilizing Western Medical diagnoses and a nutritional approach to healing. Special tests may be ordered such as blood work, saliva, stool or urine tests.
